Abstract:
Shocked in America chronicles the comic and tragic adventures of a West African Shaman during his education in America. For N’dourou, the challenge to balance his heritage as the first-born son and shamanic lineage bearer of the Hippopotamus Clan on his Mother’s side, and being raised Moslem on his Father’s side, seemed like plenty for one lifetime. However, through a wonderful and unexpected opportunity, N’dourou was separated from his loved ones for over four years and immersed in the entirely unfamiliar language, educational system and culture of the United States. This book represents his sharing with you some of the adventures, challenges, successes and celebrations he enjoyed during his stay in America.
