Woogie is a black and tan Irish Terrier. He loves to ride in his big truck. Woogie peeks out of the window from his cushioned perch in the back seat.
Wherever he travels, Woogie looks for a friend to play with him. His favorite games are Tag, Tackle and Tug-A-War.
On one of his travels, Woogie took a walk in the woods. Suddenly, Woogie heard a field mouse.
“Squeak! Squeak!”
Woogie followed the squeak and found a small, brown mouse on a tree branch.
“Will you play with me?” Woogie asked.
“No!” squeaked the mouse as she ran into her nest under an old oak tree.
Then Woogie watched a brown rabbit nearby munching on green dandelion leaves.
“Will you play with me?” asked Woogie.
“No!” said the rabbit as he hopped away.
Woogie met several ducks by a pond.
“Quack! Quack! Quack!” said the ducks.
“Will you play with me?” asked Woogie.
“No!” quacked the ducks as they waddled into the water.
Woogie swam after them.
“I just want to be your friend,” said Woogie.
But they didn’t want to play with him. Woogie was very sad.
“Why won’t anyone play with me?” he wondered.
