The life story of Dr. Arthur Richards, Jr., is intriguing, starting in his youth with two tragic events that led him to become a veterinarian.

Dr. Richards tells how he established his practice in rural western Pennsylvania and was thrown into unexpected situations, remarking, “They never told me in veterinary school it would be like this.” Using humor, he describes many tales from his 50 years of treating large and small animals.

Dr. Richards attributes his family’s strong bond to the involvement his wife and children had in making his practice successful.
