No other book has this contemporary insight of southeastern American Indians! From Oral Traditions to modern day businesses, a “must have”!!

Abstract:
In encyclopedia format, this book gives English translations to ancient Choctaw words used in today’s English language. It explores the areas of Oral Traditions, European Contact, Indian Removal and the success of several Choctaw Tribes today. Most unique is how the text brings into focus the southeastern culture of the most misunderstood, and misrepresented peoples in history, the American Indian - revealing religions and cultures that are as complex as any in the world, as well as recognition of several Tribes/Nations that no longer exist.

I couldn't believe it. This had actual Indian words and explanations for them. This really has to be in school libraries. Not just a pocahontas story, or words like Mississippi or Great Spirit. This book details so much information that I had no idea about. This is the first time I can really see Indian religions that are just as extensive and detailed as many others.
