This is a complex, imaginitive story of good, evil, violence, and magic. The several threads of the story include political intrigue, romantic love, fear, courage, and personal redemption. It is set in a richly detailed world created by Mr Marcano that shows wonderful inventiveness. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

I opened "The People of the Sea" last night for some light reading before going to bed and wound up finishing it at 5:30 in the morning. Now I don't recommend staying up all night if you have to work the next day - but I'm sure you will enjoy this story. A tale of love and adventure, sacrifice and courage, magic and humanity that involved me in a wonderfully imaginative world... This book would make an outstanding film for people of all ages - but reading it will allow you to fully savor all the delightful textures and marvelous characters as only words on paper can provide. Highly recommended.
