When a window washer's view into corporate America reveals more than Paoli Pharmaceuticals bargains for, some executives will do anything to ensure their miracle cancer cure will deliver the spoils that await them.

Abstract:
Mel Hawthorne’s prospects with Sarah Gavin appear slim, particularly once her fiancé announces his pharmaceutical firm has cured cancer—despite knowing the drug’s side effects. While washing windows at a Philadelphia building, Mel witnesses a murder, but unfortunately the police can’t find a body nor any evidence of foul play. Mel races to solve the alleged crime, but what Sarah’s fiancé doesn’t realize is that concealing the drug’s side effects immediately sparked a twist of fate that’s been smoldering for years, leaving a trail of evidence that no one but Mel and his closest cohorts cares enough about to pursue.

I received an advance copy of When I Fall. McClatchy plots with page-turning skill. Her sense of biting humor, social satire and tension-building skills make this a great read. I can't wait to get my first published edition!

It's not often that the characters of a suspense novel stay with you long after you've put the book down. This author has done a fabulous job of weaving a well-plotted storyline and developing characters that inspire. Expect the unexpected in this gem!

  Couldn't put it down. , 07/07/2007

This book is definitely worth your time! I read this book in 1 day, as did my husband. Couldn't put it down. I felt that it was extremely well written and had a superb storyline. I was thrilled that the book was set in and around Philadelphia. I enjoyed all of the characters and was able to get to know them very well. Barb McClatchy did a superb job of getting you into their lives and letting you feel what they were feeling. The characters were inspiring. If you are going to read anything this summer, make "When I Fall" it! Believe me, you will not be disappointed.

  Falls into the "Couldn't-put-it-down" category , 07/17/2007

After at least 50 years of reading one or two mysteries per week I feel qualified to give high marks to Barb McClatchy's book. My categories for mysteries are as follows: books I start but do not finish; books I finish but do so a little at a time as I read other books simultaneously; and, finally, books that when I reach a certain point I read compulsively and exclusively until done. Regarding this last group, some books reach this point on page one (very rare) and some near the end - the tipping point of "When I Fall" was in the first half. Excellent.
