The author has earned an MA in American History from Syracuse University and an MSW from the University of North Carolina. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been counseling terminally ill patients and their families since 1992. He has served as Clinical Supervisor for the Social Work Department of Duke Community Hospice Services and currently works for Heartland Hospice. He and his wife live in the countryside near Hillsborough NC.
