Sauveur Alcenat was born and raised in Haiti. Although he was unable to complete his education in Haiti, he became well known in his region for his accomplishments in business, music, and soccer. He became a political refugee when Haiti became too dangerous under the regime of François ‘Papa Doc’ Duvalier. He managed to come to the United States with the help of his wife’s uncle and his brother, who were already in the country. After arriving, he immediately went to work during the day and to school at night. He advanced his career at a manufacturing company. After a few years, he finally had the financial means to bring his wife and five children to live permanently in the United States. He accomplished one of his education dreams when he graduated from high school in New York City. He went on to attend Pace University for two years and continued to advance his education with in-house training at Chase Manhattan Bank. He advanced to become a manager at Chase Manhattan Bank, where he took his retirement.
