Abstract:
In this book an internist with 50 years of medical practice, describes a novel computerized diagnostic algorithm.

This algorithm can diagnose diseases that afflict an actual patient, as opposed to existing programs that are useful only for diagnostic training purposes. Emulating human reasoning, it accurately solves complex medical diagnostic problems.

The primary purpose of this interdisciplinary book is to introduce the mentioned algorithm. It also is useful as a reference text because it explains—in common language—medical terminology and diagnostic principles to computer scientists; and probability, logic, and heuristic concepts to physicians.
