Rosemary’s heart pounded, as the train pulled away from the station, leaving Ben leaning against the post. Rosemary pressed her face closer to the window, as he mouthed the words, “I love you.”

Abstract:
Rosemary Alexander is a young eighteen-year-old girl, born in Smoke Mont Hollow, deep in the Appalachian Mountains. She had watched her parents work their fingers to the bone, trying to eek out a living on their small dirt farm. She watched the women in the hollow, as well as her own mother, grow old and gray before their time. Rosemary dreamed of leaving Smoke Mont Hollow, and going to New York City, to make a better life for her self. She boarded the train in the small town of Rivers Edge, leaving behind, Ben, the love of her life, her family, and the only life she had ever known.
