Abstract:
Jamie Boyer sits in a stark homeless shelter in one of the seedier areas just off of High Street, certain that he has messed up his life forever. The young man had left his home on the farm just six months earlier for college in the big city. After falling in with the wrong crowd and getting mixed up with alcohol and drugs, his life is shattered. From his occasional church visits while growing up, Jamie knows that he is running from God. Can Jamie work his way out of his problems alone--and will anything really be different if he gets back to the college bars on High Street?

High Street, Hard Book , 08/16/2007
Reviewer: David Brollier
The reason I say this is a hard book isn't because it's hard to read. Quite the contrary. I thought it was written very well. It's the subject matter that makes it difficult. Stinson rips away the soft, cozy exteriors of life and exposes it as it truly is ... and at its lowest point. We pray for a happy ending to this story, some humor to go easy on the reader, but Stinson is adamant. HIGH STREET reads like a reporter's expose of life among the homeless. This book, while good, isn't for the weak or faint of heart. This is for the "blood and guts" Christians who see those around them rushing towards an eternal abyss without God.
