Excerpts of poems and songs
I RAN and I RAN
When I was in grammar school, I ran and I ran. One, two, three, four times a day-- Home to school, school to home A mile away.
Up the hill, down the hill The school bell calling Hurry! Run, run Sister So and So Will be at the door, With her claquer in hand-- Ready... To tap knucklebones.
My heart is thumping, I can feel her frozen face Icy eyeswaiting For the latecomers.
Whew! I made it! I smile. Her face thaws. Im in good grace again. Good thing I ran!
ENOUGH! Run, walk, drive, talk. Enough! Its time to pause And listen to the inner sights Before I go...because The treasures of the earth and soul Will ever be unseen, If I dont put the brakes upon My pressing hurry-up dreams.
I WONDER WHY? Im getting old, but not really...
From the mirror on the wall, I hear, You are getting old. But from the mirror of my soul I know That I am ever young. Really! I can feel it. I have not aged at all!...
HUMDRUM... DeeDee Chitter, chatter, chit, chat, chit Im glad you came. Come on lets sit.
Chatter, chitter, chat, chit chat. I really love your darling hat!
Mee Chitter, chatter, chit, chat, chout. Thats all there is to talk about?...
I MET BEAUTY TODAY I met beauty today--in such a trivial way. She had passed by at least a hundred times, but I was so engrossed in my problems that I didnt notice her. Im glad she didnt hold that against me. In fact, she kept returning.
The minute that I recognized her, I realized how hard she tried to bring me joy that day. She came in the morning sun that woke and warmed me, but I had the morning grouch and paid no attention to her. Then she smiled at me in my sisters face, but I ignored her, as I began to talk about my worries. I remember, too, how she tried to cheer me in the soothing radio music, but I shut it off...
L O V E High as the heavens, Deep as the seas... And so much in between.
So many meanings... As many as there are beings Who live, And are aware, And yearn...
Is it no wonder, then, That we sometimes disagree About this mystery?...
THE NOONDAY SUN
Dawn appears in tender face, And with it comes a life-filled grace For man who stands renewed In quiet, soothing dawn.
Alone with her, Man knows the joy of peace And drinks the peace of joy... And all is well in lovely, tranquil dawn.
But time moves on And so must man. And sooner than he thinks He finds that he is face to face With blinding Noonday sun. That blazing, fiery sun From which he cannot hide...
MY COMPUTER MACHINE Look at me! Im flying Over the keys. My computers working With olympic ease Ten pages of text Ive already written. With this small machine, I am really smitten!...
SONGS
BEL ARC-EN-CIEL BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW
Les clairs clatent, Le tonnerre retentit. Les nuages sombres Amnent la pluie. Mon coeur ffray pleure. Est-ce-que ce torrent Durera longtemps? Durera lontemps? Tout coups, Le ciel sclaircit. Un arc-en-ciel Vient remplacer la pluie!...
Lightning fills the heavens, Thunder roars all around. Somber clouds burst open Heaving rain to ground. Filled with dread my heart cries, When will this storm end? When will this storm end?...
THE WEDDING ROSE May the blessings of God be upon you. May He fill you with gifts from above. May He give you the flower of peace And the red rose of lasting love.
May the rose that God has sown Keep you ever true. May it bloom into a flowr Of enduring love for you...
HEIDI AND POLKA Heidi and Polka are best of friends, They like each other a lot. When Polka comes to visit her Heidi starts to bark.
Woof, Woof, (bis) (bis) Im glad you came to play.
Meow, meow (bis) (bis) We will surely have a great day.
ROULE LA VOITURE Rolling Along Roule, roule, roule la voiture Roule, roule, roule laventure. Roule sur les grandes routes et les petits chemins. Oublions nos ennuies, laissons-les demain
Roll, roll, rolling along In our hearts there is a song. On highways and thruways and roads that wind, Leaving all our troubles and cares behind
FOREST PRAYRS As the sun descends to kiss the earth, And the sky bursts out in red and gold, I leave the clattring world behind To go for a secluded stroll.
Through the shadowed paths of forest land, All alone I walk and pray. And I listen to the woodland sounds-- To its song at the end of the day.
