A Keen Unseen
Youd think youd notice me like you notice the womans bare breasts flashing brazen at your best friends bachelor party. My jesting gestures of adulation gushing following you in such submission The clueless clown at your feet who falls down in a colorful rumpled heap from her toil. My stoic idol, youd think youd notice her painted red smile turning upside down when she no longer comes around, when she spots you late nights out on the town.
Youd think youd see me like you see that familiar stop sign screaming on your bustling street corner, since Im the loudest fire truck squealing, blaring by you in flashes and flickers. Youd think youd see me like fluorescent bumper stickers or the album that holds dear your coveted pictures.
Youd think youd feel me when my stare is fixed to your eyes like the brown of them. Sometimes my gaze burns a hole in your back when youre leaving my cozy den: the irony of such smoldering flames still awake while instinctively I silently pray youll return to me again someday.
Youd think youd hear me when my voice cries your name and echoes across valleys between us with no shame. Pleading, it bounces like your basketball on an empty court. Dont you hear my call? Alone and restless in your shadows dark, heart throbbing, soul naked - stark. Youd think youd hear my bodys thump when I fall in your hall, but no, not at all.
Youd think youd find me like you find your glasses groping at night with your weary, limited sight while you curse your clumsy task of misplace, when all the while they sit plainly on your face. Youd think youd find me like Hide-and-Go-Seek since I hide in such obvious places. But Im your lost and never found, Why do I bother coming around? I would think youd find me but you dont.
