At this very moment your body could be poisoning itself, and you have no idea its happening.
Yes, thats a rather alarming statement for me to make, but after 20 years as a health practitioner, I know its true. Fully one third of the clients I work with as a nutritional counselor, iridologist and Darkfield Microscopy technician are suffering from ileocecal valve dysfunction. The ileocecal valve is the gateway from the small intestine into the large intestine, and is designed to be a one-way passage. With increasing frequency, though, something goes wrong, and the waste headed for elimination through the colon makes its way back into the small intestines, where toxins can be absorbed right into the blood stream.
This potentially deadly problem is showing up across all age groups, in both men and women, and in the physically fit, the obese and every category in between. My youngest patient with ileocecal valve dysfunction was 18 months old.
The malady masquerades as everything from chronic fatigue syndrome to gas to bursitis to a bladder infection. Some of the symptoms are merely annoying others can develop into potentially life-threatening illnesses. Since it takes on so many different forms, its nearly impossible to diagnose through standard medical tests, and has earned the dubious nickname, The Great Mimicker. Because ileocecal valve malfunction has become so prevalent, my clients who have found relief urged me to write this book to help others recognize symptoms, test to determine if the ileocecal valve is in fact the culprit, and then make the necessary lifestyle changes to get the digestive tract functioning properly again. There are many simple, effective non-surgical treatments which can relieve the problems, once and for all, and set you back on the road to excellent health.
You will learn what causes Ileocecal valve impairment, some of the possible symptoms, and how to reclaim your health through smart lifestyle shifts.
Marions malfunction
Marion* was a sweet, soft-spoken middle-aged woman who brought her teenager to me for nutritional advice. Annie, her daughter, was devouring the usual teenaged diet of fast and overly processed foods, and her body was protesting with skin eruptions, lack of energy and irregular menstrual periods.
As a certified nutritionist and Darkfield microscopy technician, I evaluated Annies eating habits and the way her body was assimilating her food. Darkfield is the technology of examining a drop of blood under a microscope, and projecting the image onto a dark background. The picture is displayed on a video monitor, allowing you to see exactly how healthy your red and white blood cells are, if any free radicals are threatening your body, and whether any other toxins, bacteria or virus are cavorting through your bloodstream.
After analyzing Annies food intake and blood, I designed a personal nutrition and supplement program for her. The teen seemed eager to give my suggestions a try.
A few months later Marion returned to one of the Southern California health food stores where I do nutritional counseling and Darkfield analysis.
Annies doing great, she told me, so I was wondering if you might be able to help ME now. As we talked, I learned Marion had suffered from vaginitus for TWO DECADES. Shed been to almost a dozen doctors through the years to try to determine the cause of the constant infection, and they all prescribed antibiotics, and implied it was her fault.
They kept telling me my personal hygiene was inadequate, or I wasnt wearing the right underwear, she said, frustrated. She gave me a drop of blood to inspect on the Darkfield. I immediately saw the answer on the screen.
Mam, I told her, your ileocecal valve is leaking.
Antibiotics Attack!
While a course of antibiotics might occasionally be necessary, the pills must be used with caution. The drugs are notorious for killing off the beneficial bacteria imperative for healthy functioning of the digestive tract. As a rule, most medical doctors wont acknowledge this. Ive seen it dozens and dozens and dozens of cases of people who have ileocecal incompetence when theyre on antibiotics.
I advise my clients to immediately follow up by taking acidophilus capsules to restore the proper flora and fauna the intestines need to perform their job of breaking down food to adsorb nutrients, then eliminating the unneeded material.
In Marions case, the constant use of antibiotics, without replacing the friendly bacteria she required for healthy digestion, had severely compromised her ileocecal valve. Toxins from body waste that should have been eliminated through the colon leaked back into the small intestine, and were absorbed into her bloodstream, resulting in the chronic vaginitus and bladder infections.
After Marion learned the pills were actually defeating her purpose, she decided immediately to STOP taking the antibiotics, then begin a program of massage and nutritional supplements, like acidophilus and slippery elm capsules, to get the ileocecal valve functioning properly again. More than a year went by since Marions last appointment with me. I was taking a lunch break at the health food store where I was consulting one day and a lady tapped me on the shoulder. She said, Gary, Im glad youre here. I wanted to say thank you.
I didnt recognize her, and she must have seen the blank look in my eyes.
Then she laughed and said, Im the lady that had the infection for 20 years!
It was no wonder I hadnt recognized her the dark circles and splotchy skin were gone, and she radiated health and vitality.
What happened since I saw you last? I asked her, thrilled with her complete turnaround.
I did everything you told me to do, she replied. I followed the diet, did the massage myself, and in 30 days, my infection went away. Its been a whole year! I havent taken any antibiotics since my session with you that day.
After two decades of pain, she was ecstatic with the way her body reverted to a balanced state in such a short time. And I was ecstatic for her.
