This is the third book in the Looking for a Better World Trilogy. In crafting this trilogy, I thought it rational and orderly to deal in the first book with the global view. If you have read it, you know that I offered some ideas as to what each one of us can do to make this a better world. Looking for a Better World seems to me something that is achievable, even in the quicksand of todays troubled planet. Looking For a Better World - What Every Person Can Do! became the first book.
The next reasonable focus seemed to be on children. Obviously, we look to them for a more permanent cure for global ills. When I researched the ideas for this work, it occurred to me that we need badly to give our children expanded rights, unrestricted respect and room to maneuver. This is another way of saying empowerment. So, Empowering Children was born as the second book.
Finally, hopping to learn from the past, we now look with joy, a positive nature and enthusiasm to our future world. In this, the third book, I have chosen to explore the Wave of the Future, those movements that will inevitably prevail. We need to learn from the past, appraise the subsequent accuracy of our forecasts and use what we know now to estimate in what ways the future will unfold. And, in my opinion, our predictions can cross the lines of the various disciplines with our understanding of the methodologies that exist and that will exist. Yes, we can interpolate what the technologies will be.
So it is fitting that we start with a retrospective, examining the aspirations of humankind from the past. And we will share the amazement of the accurate foresight of such entities as the 1939 Worlds Fair and Orwells 1984.
Then we will explore what we know now and how we can overlay that knowledge on a conception of the future, with some emphasis on technology, the environment, healthcare and education. These waves of the future are technologies that will absolutely prevail.
I have searched hundreds of internet sites and other sources to find the technologies and social forces that best demonstrate that past is prologue. To that end, I am quoting many of the sources (with permission) as they themselves have structured. And, in those cases where the material is extensive, I have removed the detail material to an Appendix, should the reader desire that level of information and the attendant technological explanations.
In an almost fictional finale, our travels forward take us to a look at our personal futures and a studied guess at the global future, thoughts on the exciting possibilities and a focus on the coalescence of Spirituality.
Everyone wants to be good, spiritual and productive. It is, unfortunately, that the mundane needs of contemporary life produce economic and peer pressures on many... and frequently they do not possess the moral focus or will to achieve right action beyond the moment. And there are terrible forces in evidence that enhance religious hatred.
In the future, spirituality will unfold as an expanded condition among the peoples of the planet. That will happen through the ideas of Inter-religious Dialogue, the forecasts for peace offered by alternative religions, global consciousness, concepts such as the Future Foundation and the work of the Rosicrucians.
With full recognition of the plights of mankind, as I outlined in considerable detail in What Every Person Can Do. and Empowering Children, the first two books of the Trilogy, there is no doubt that the Goodness of the human condition will prevail. We have a very bright future, indeed.
