Definition of a Poet


A poet's responsibility
Is to Educate and Inspire
Lend a picture painted in words
That even the simple man can admire
He motivates you to contemplate
Takes your mental elevation a step higher
A pillar in the community
Improvement is his greatest desire
For what is life without expression
A monologue of days
That lead to a simplistic direction
Before I sketched my first verse
I didn't know how to display my affection
Now I write more from my soul than knowledge
Still to Maya, Nikki, Pac, and Langston
I pay homage
For these poets served as motivation
In all of my works of creation
