Appliance Buying Record
Over time this may be the most valuable record in your Home Owners Manual. You know you can't remember when you bought that refrigerator unless you bought it last week. Its probably a lot older than you think. And that dryer is probably older than the children.
Here is a place to consolidate records of when you bought appliances, computers, audio/visual equipment, cameras, major hobby items, furniture, carpets and other household items that have value. You can even record when you installed that new furnace. It will have a thousand uses. Should you have an insurance claim, this may be the only record you have since this type of information is simply not a major part of our lives until something happens.
And from a practical view, if you ever need a part number, the first question from any parts department is your model and serial number. Be careful here. Your owners manual may cover several closely related models with the same number. You need to rely on the tag or label on the appliance. Owners manuals do not contain serial numbers so it is best to determine what they are before you snuggle the frig in its nook only to find out that the serial number tag is on the back.
