OK, Cindy said with a little crack in her voice, we are back on the air with Ralph Randolph. Hello, Mary; you are on the air.
Ralph, I must tell you that Mary is not my real name.
I know what your real name is, but its not important; please go on, Ralph told her.
I had something very horrible happen to me when I was a teenager.
Ralph already knew her story as well as her life history, but he let her go on.
One night many years ago, me and three of my girlfriends were going to a school dance. One of the girls had stolen a pint of liquor from her Dads bar. We had passed around the bottle and although I knew better, I was driving. That night after becoming inebriated, I missed a turn and drove my fathers car off the road and hit a tree. One of my friends was killed instantly and another lost one of her legs. I was young and stupid and have had to live with that mistake my entire life.
Now came the question and Ralph already knew he didnt know the answer.
Is there no hope of me making it to the sunny place after I took my girlfriends life on that terrible night? I will take my question off the air.
Ralph looked over at Cindy, but didnt speak for a period just long enough to make her nervous.
I want to thank you for your call and I will attempt to answer your question. Let me start by saying that I am not sure I know the answer. One of the most beautiful parts of the plan is repentance. If we truly repent of a sin we have committed, we can be forgiven in most cases. One of the frequent problems with people who commit sins up to but not including murder is that they repent and then turn around and do the same thing over again. It is like the story of the boy that cried wolf. After a few reruns of the same problem followed by repentance, I believe One will no longer take your pleas of repentance seriously. I can almost tell you for sure that repentance will not turn the tide on murder. Yours is a special circumstance, as I am sure that there are many of out there. I can tell by your tone and your story that you have suffered much over the years. All I can really tell you is that you must continue to repent and give service to others and hope that when you pass on, it will be to the sunny place. I wish I could be more specific, but as I told you before, there are things that I just dont know and this is one of them. I hope in some small way this may have helped you.
Now to Mobile, Alabama; Jordan, you are on the air with Ralph.
Hey, Ralph, my name is Jordan Daniels and I am 10 years old. My older brother Trevor told me that you are as fake as Santa Claus, but I dont think so. I watch or listen to you every chance I get. I believe what you are saying about One. Once when I was younger, about six, I got real sick and went to the hospital. The doctors said I had some leaks in my heart that they needed to fix. My mom and dad took me to the hospital the night before the operation but they were real tired and fell asleep. I was scared so I couldnt sleep at all. The nurse came and turned off my light. After a while of being scared and me just laying there, a man came into my room. He said he wanted me to take a little trip with him and that we would be right back. I told him that my Mom and Dad told me to never go nowhere with a stranger. He told me dont worry and when he took my hand, I felt all warm and good inside like eating a whole Hersheys bar by myself. I thought we were going to go for a walk, but when he squeezed my hand, we just flew in a windstorm to a warm beach place. We were by the ocean and I was so happy. We sat in the sand and I even got to play a little. People kept walking by and waving to me; some of them even called my name, but I didnt know any of them. I thought this guy was the best ever, other than Mom and Dad, of anybody I had ever met. I asked him to go and get my whole family and bring them to live here, but he said he couldnt. He said I might have to stay here by myself and then he left to go for a little walk. When he came back, he told me I could go home now to Mom and Dad. I cried a little because I really wanted to stay. Anyway, he took me back through the wind and clouds. No one has ever believed my story. Do you believe me, Ralph? Was my warm place your sunny place?
I think it just might have been, Jordan, Ralph said. When the time comes, you will be going to live there forever with your family. Always try to do what is right and it will be your reward. Jordan, you sound like you remember the sunny place pretty well.
Yeah, I still have dreams about it sometimes.
Lets play a game, Ralph said. I am going to tell you something about the sunny place you went to and you tell me if it is true.
OK! Jordans voice brightened at the chance to play a game.
