Erika Leeders has evolved her business partnership at Atters, Atters and Leeders, CPA, to the point where they must split the business and Erika must take the club accounting staff and relocate. Having recently been involved with the golf professional, Jimmy Anderson, who died suddenly just as their relationship had begun to bloom Erika has become withdrawn socially. She is working harder than ever, with an eye on becoming a very rich woman, while trying to learn how to play golf as a diversion and limiting her private life to her two lesbian girlfriends, Marcie and Amy.
These ladies are now working for Erika at the CPA firm since the vitamin kiosk plan that Erika arranged for at clubs has increased revenues for both her firm and the clubs. Marcie and Amy have developed vitamin enhancement programs for various sports and the success has been overwhelming. They bring to Erika an idea to create a newsletter and Erika studies the possibilities.
Kim and Jason have been building the practice around computer firms and continue to have successful results. Kims cousin Bob, who lives in San Diego, wants to write a story about the golf professional, Jimmy Anderson, and comes to Los Angles to meet Erika since she would be a prime source. Bob is a writer of historical publications and is also pursuing the acquisition of a publishing firm. They meet and hit it off quite well. Erika has also been approached by a known film producer who wants to do a story about Jimmy Anderson.
Erika and Bob make a date for a round of golf while hes in town. They enjoy each others company and they seem attracted to each other. Bob drops the idea of writing a biography on Jimmy Anderson, as he sees Erika in a different light. Erika meets with the movie producer and is offered a large sum of money for her assistance. Bob and Erika intend to see each other again. Bob has begun serious negotiations to buy a publishing firm so he expects to spend more time with Erika.
In a strange and unexpected turn of events a disgruntled client attacks and kills Jason in his office. This event devastates Kim, as well as, her children, relatives and Erika. The various events in restructuring the family issues and the business take on some unusual twists. After the funeral Kim takes leave of the business and retreats to stay on board Bob Devines yacht in the Newport Beach marina. Kim is an accomplished boater and meets another boater, Doran, who helps her in her recovery process.
The acquisition of Knob Hill Publishing is accomplished by Bob Devine and he begins his new career. Erika gets involved with the production staff of the movie about Jimmy Anderson while managing his golf schools around the country. Jimmys former caddie, Gene, and Erika who have been willed ownership in the schools get an unexpected buy out offer from a Japanese firm. Many legal events begin to occur with the death of Jason, the acquisition of the golf schools, and the movie being produced about Jimmy Anderson.
Bob and Erikas relationship begins to grow and they spend more time together as they start making future plans. Kim is trying to accept her position as a widow and Doran, a widower and psychologist, is helping her gain control of her life without Jason. She experiences the boating lifestyle that she once enjoyed with Jason. Doran becomes a good friend to Kim as she starts to open up to him in her healing process.
Marcie and Amy, along with Erika, create an unusual newsletter that Bobs publishing organization begins to produce and distribute. Erika and Gene move toward selling the schools and Erika gets an unexpected surprise when the same company who wants to buy the schools wants to consider acquiring Atters and Leeders, CPA firm.
Bob and Erika move toward a more solid relationship. Candy and Burt Small come to Los Angeles as Burt is in a major golf tournament. Candy and Erika continue on with their friendship and now Burt and Bob become friends. Burt and Candy are considering a second home in San Diego since Burts sponsors want him close by for commercials.
Erika gets involved with arranging pre-nuptial agreements so she and Bob can continue to move toward a more solid relationship. Bob discovers some unique opportunities in Canada for publishing. Erika becomes interested in an insurance plan for clubs.
Gene and Erika sell their interest in the golf schools. Erika continues to expand the club business and has the attention of the Japanese firm that acquired the golf schools. Kim and Doran begin a more serious relationship while her lawyers are trying to sue the estate of the man who killed Jason.
In a surprise move Bob whisks Erika off to Las Vegas and they have a surprise wedding with their friends. Bob and Erika begin their family but Erika, the true entrepreneur, starts an insurance company. Amy and Marcy plan to marry in Canada and start a family. Gene has moved onto designing golf courses and Burt gets involved with Bobs political career.
