One night, just before the first snowfall, she went outside as she waited for their dinner to cook on the hearth. She felt depressed as she thought about Michael. She stood outside the door looking up at the sky. The stars were just beginning to manifest themselves. If Michael was outside right now, he would be looking at the same sky, the same stars that I am looking at This thought made her feel close to him. Oh, Michael, why did you not wait for me to grow up? She thought these words many times. Then, disgust would fill her to be still mooning over a man who belonged to someone else, a man who probably never gave her a thought.
