Jake grabbed her arm before she headed out. “Come on, we can talk in here,” as he guided, half dragged, her into an interrogation room. Checking to be sure the speakers were off, he pushed her into the room and slammed the door,
Surprised, Ciara asked him, “Jake, what’s wrong? I didn’t mean to cause you any trouble,” she said innocently and looking quite remorse.
“Trouble?” he said harshly. “Did you see the looks on the men out there?” Pointing towards the front door where the others were still standing watching them.
“No, I only saw you,” she gasped, not wanting him to know she was attracted yet, “I mean, you were who I was coming to see,” she corrected.
Damn it Ciara,” putting his thumbs in his belt to keep himself from reaching for her. Man Jake, get a hold of yourself. She’s off limits to your kind. Keep thinking that, don’t look into those eyes. You’re already thinking about doing things with her you shouldn’t be doing.
“Jake, you alright?” she asked placing her hand on his arm.
Feeling the sparks he jumped back, “yeah, I’m fine. Why did you come in?” he said a bit too sharply.
“Well I can see I’m not welcome here, guess I’ll be going. I thought you wanted to help me punish those guys. Sorry I bothered you.” Before she turned Jake saw moisture gathering in her eyes. Placing his hands on her shoulders he turned her around to face him.
“Oh honey, don’t cry. I do want to help you. I want …” stopping he looked into her widened eyes, trying to figure the look in them.
“What Jake? What do you want?” she whispered softly looking at him with those gorgeous eyes he found he couldn’t resist.
“You,” he said quietly. “God help me, I want you.”
