“Well here they come,” Cole stated. “Y’all ready for this?” he laughed.
Driving into the yard Jeff noticed Cody’s truck and trailer parked down by the barn. “Well looks like our wayward son has returned,” he said smiling. Good he’s been missed. Someday maybe he’ll settle down here Jeff thought.
“Oh great,” Lacy squealed. “He’s been on my mind so much lately. I’ve been missing him.”
“Well let’s get this stuff in the house first then go down to the barn and see him,” Jeff said, but at that moment Cody came out on the porch.
“Hey mom, dad welcome back,” he grinned that cute smile of his. He was so full of mischief most of the time that everyone got used to it. He was always a happy child, nothing like the shy more serious Cole.
“Cody, I’m so glad you’re home,” Lacy said racing to hug him. Jeff came up behind and joined in on the hugs.
“So that’s Charlie,” Cody said looking at the man pulling up the rear. He’d heard al about him from Cole.
“Yeah, that’s Charlie. Charlie my son Cody, one of the triplets” Jeff said introducing the pair. The two shook hands but were eying each other. Cody was looking for signs of CJ and Charlie was looking for signs of Jeff and the other two boys.
“Man you kids sure all look alike,” Charlie finally said.
“No doubt who we belong to is there?” Cody teased, knowing full well his mom hated it when he said that.
“Cody, stop that,” Lacy said, shoving her son.
“Hey, what’s going on here?” a little voice asked.
Turning towards the sound both Jeff and Lacy waited for an explanation as to who this child was.
“Hey Haley, these people are my parents. Mom and dad, this is Haley.”
“Hello Haley,” Lacy said. Jeff was about to say hi also when the child spoke again.
“You’re my new grandparents aren’t ya?” she stated, holding onto Cody’s leg.
