To Catch A Flowing River Livia Abbott *** "...and you will accomplish both; that what is given to you and that what you chose by yourself."
"Will I remember?" I asked
"It is written on your heart."
"There is so much. Will there be time?"
"Eternity," and They put their hands upon my head and blessed me. "God's Speed."
I knew who I was and where I was going and what I was to accomplish when I got there. But from that precise moment, when Lloma lightly touched my forehead, I knew nothing.
"Come!" He took my hand and we turned Earthward. *** . So started my journey.
Questions about Life and Death, relationships and soul mates have always intrigued humanity.
Here I am presenting a TRUE STORY of my search for answers. My physical and spiritual journey led me from war-torn Europe to Canada and the United States moving from loss of faith to regaining faith with astonishing results.
I experienced proof that extraordinary things can happen to ordinary people, that communication with spirit guides and teachers is possible, a courtship of my spirit soul-mate and the healing of centuries old relationships. But, above all else, my experiences give evidence that there is no Death, only Life everlasting.
All things are connected, all are tied together, all are ONE. Nothing happens by chance. What takes place in our lives is caused by our own invitation and action. Divine Providence does not punish us but teaches us by giving us tests. Life is an opportunity to remember who we are, to love, to trust and to have faith. I, too, have asked and have questioned, and this story is about seeking and finding, about doubting and trusting. But above all else, it is a love story of the most unusual kind. Through it all I have grown and changed. I have gained deeper insight and peace of mind and have lost the fear of death.
Life is a voyage, a magnificent and exciting way back HOME. Come with me! Let us enter the waters of life and journey together for a while.
I have traveled far from my childhood home where the Baltic Sea washes amber upon its shore, where spring comes gently and leisurely, allowing the senses to adjust to each glorious moment of color and fragrance. I have traveled far in distance and thought, yet the memory of the land, its beauty, its triumph and tragedy, is embedded deep within my soul and surfaces now and then uninvited. At moments like these, I feel compelled to capture the echoes of days past and put them on paper before they fade from my memory and are lost forever.
On the easterly side of the Baltic Sea, with its back against Russia, lies a small country whose history is harsh and filled with sorrow. Many foreign boots have trampled its fields, destroyed its cities, and depleted its wealth. Yet after each invasion-like perennial grass in spring-love sent out green shoots of hope and renewed the land.
Latvia, the pearl of Baltic, is my homeland. I was born and grew up in Riga, the ancient capital that was founded in 1201. During World War I, after a heroic struggle of our people, Latvia gained her freedom and was proclaimed an independent republic on November 18, 1918. For the next twenty-two years, free from foreign occupants, the country became prosperous and self-supporting. These were the years of my childhood and youth.
The country lies quite far north, yet it has a moderate climate. The Norwegian mountain range protects the land from the harsh Arctic winds, and the Gulf Stream warms it. Nowhere else have I experienced such glorious spring times. My memory is filled by green meadows scattered with wildflowers, the air pure and sweet with their fragrance. I have run barefooted through these fields and lain stretched out between fragrant grasses, lost in the blueness of the sky and the songs of the meadowlark. With the exuberance of youth, I took nature's gifts for granted only vaguely aware of the love I felt for this land until I was forced to leave it behind.
Looking back after the turbulence of World War II and the refugee years, I believe that the sweetness of my youth helped me to survive the ugliness and pain that followed. Now with these years behind me, I can bless each and every experience, knowing that they have taught me, and molded me, and trimmed from me all that is superficial and false. I know now that we are responsible for every thought, word and deed and will be called to account sooner or later to face all that we have done or left undone. The Great Record Keeper knows it all and we cannot hide forever.
Writing this book is my way of facing the deeds and attitudes that needed to be changed and forgiven. I have become aware that I have lived other lifetimes and have had relationships that only now, in this present lifetime, could be worked out and understood. The past is always with us as we carry subconscious memories from lifetime to lifetime that either help us or hinder our progress.
As you read my story, I ask you to keep in mind that each soul holds within darkness and light and has the power to change. In this I am no different. We all have come to learn our own lessons and we need the circumstances and relationships that will help us to do so. Therefore, it is never wise to judge or condemn others, or tell them how they should live. We do not know the WHOLE STORY, why they are here and what they came to do. Only GOD knows and He does not judge or punish us, but gives us opportunities to correct our ways. It is up to us to do so. There is no better time than NOW, and thus; NOW IS THE TIME FOR ME TO PUT MY HOUSE IN ORDER.
