Excerpts
Concerning meeting Bill Monroe:
Bill walked right up to our table and started talking to us about coming to Bean Blossom. You know how one event can change your life, meeting Bill that day changed my life forever.
Concerning Bill Monroe & Southern Flavor:
Bill was playing “Southern Flavor” you always knew he was going to play this song he had twin fiddles on stage. The bending down to play this song was an accident, the first time it happened someone had left the mike loose and during the song Bill followed it down and kept playing it was such a hit that from then own it was done that way.
Concerning Bill Buck Dancing:
At least once during a show Bill would take time to buck dance while the Bluegrass Boys played. Even after his heart surgery he would do it from time to time, it would scare me half to death but he never fell. He was at the Grand Old Opry when the young people from Ireland came and he danced with them to, they gave him a clock with there picture on it, we hung it in the living room. He was real proud to meet them.
Concerning Bill and Gospel songs:
When ever Bill sang a Gospel song he and the boys would take off their hats. And at the end of the shows when he thanked the people for coming out to the show.
Concerning Bill’s Cabin:
Bill bought the cabin and 288 acres out side of Nashville in the early 50’s. In the 70’s he rebuilt it to what you see in the photo, using the original logs from the old house.
