Chapter 1
“WATCH OUT KID!” I said running across the parking lot trying to get to the boy in time.
Right then the man who had just pulled up in his car got out with a ski mask on and pulled out a gun, exactly as I knew he would, and I knew he was going to shoot the kid if I didn’t stop him.
A loud bang went off as the man pulled the trigger just in time for me to move the kid out of the way. My knees struck the ground and I could feel the tearing of my skin as the bullet penetrated my stomach.
I clutched my belly feeling the blood seep through my fingers and cried out in pain, feeling myself go light headed, as I watched the man run to his car and drive away quickly.
Then all I heard was silence and everything went black……

The man with big doe brown eyes who was staring at me intently said.
“So you’re awake I see.”
“Where am I?” I asked, just beginning to notice the lab coat and clipboard. Then I knew exactly where I was by the smell of antiseptics.
“You’re at the hospital with a bullet wound that you got while saving that boy’s life.”
“Who was he, and did he get hurt?” I blurted out wondering what happened with him.
“His name is Charlie Torin and his dad happens to be a multi billionaire. Right now he’s back with his parents where he should be and he’s fourteen years of age.” Answered the Doctor closing his brown, worn clipboard and walking out of the room.
My name is Sabrina Sampson and I am five foot eight with short cropped blonde hair. I have an athletic body which I keep that way by working out, but it’s still on the curvy side. I’m seventeen years old and have a heart shaped face with high cheekbones. The color of my eyes my mother says is unique because they’re almost violet which fades into blue and can startle anyone if I stare at them. Most people say I’m very attractive and could charm anyone with my smile, but I know people probably see me for what I am which is different.
Ok, I sound like any normal teenager, but that’s why the saying goes “Never judge a book by its cover.”

“Miss Sampson can I have a word with you,” asked a man in his mid-thirties standing in the doorway of my hospital room. He was about six-feet tall with a strong jaw and dark penetrating eyes which looked like they took in everything. His profile told me he was a cop. He was wearing a trench coat that was gray with many wrinkles like the ones around his eyes. He was had a muscled build with broad shoulders and he had a note pad in his hands. He was also handsome enough looking to go out with my mom.
“My name is Joe Greene and I am a homicide detective,” he said reaching into his coat and showing his badge.
“So what would you like to know?” I asked pleasantly.
“I would like to know how you knew the man was going to pull a gun.”
“Lucky guess.” I said with a shrug of my shoulders not looking up at the guy. Even though I’m a good liar, I knew he could probably tell if I was or wasn’t.
“There’s more too it than that, I think,” he said stretching his arms out then plopping himself in the only chair in the room.
“How can you be sure if……?” I didn’t get to finish my sentence as my mother stormed in the room and hugged me fiercely not noticing Joe.
Joe snapped into attention, standing up straight and looking himself over quickly. It wasn’t a surprise to me to find Joe starring at my Mom because she had that affect on all guys and didn’t seem to have a clue about it.
My mother Emily Sampson is thirty-six and beautiful with long slender piano hands and graceful movements. Though she has my colored hair grown out long she has light blue eyes that are soft. She’s got high cheekbones, full lips and an athletical body just like mine. Most people say we look like twins but my mom is a great deal more beautiful. She’s a lawyer and raised me all alone. My mother says my father left when she told him she was pregnant with me and she never saw him again. I say good riddance to him even though sometimes I wish I had a father.
“You had me worried sick. Then the doctor calls and I find out you got shot,” mom said, her eyes filling with tears as she checked me over.
“Mom this is Joe Greene. He’s a detective,” I said pointing in his direction.
“Oh? Hello, I didn’t even notice you were there,” My mom said holding out a hand. I could hear her say in her thoughts, “Well, he’s awful handsome, as he took her hand. Crap.
There are two things I forgot to tell you and they’re two really big facts. OK, HERE IT GOES. I have the ability to read minds and I get visions of the future. I haven’t even told my mom that I have psychic abilities because I’m afraid it will freak her out and she will go berserk. That also happens to be the reason I saved the boy because I saw a vision of him dying.
“Miss Sampson, are you aware that your daughter saved a boy’s life when she took that bullet.”
“No, she did WHAT!” My mom’s voice cracked and she turned to look at me. Her mouth hung open and she looked horrified.
“That’s why you got shot. Why didn’t you just call nine-one-one?” Mom asked perplexed.
“Because he would have been dead before they got there,” I answered crossing my arms over my chest careful not to hit my wound. I slipped on my defiant expression just as my mom slipped on her questioning one.
“You know you never answered my question before about how you knew he would pull out a gun,” said Joe breaking the silence after a few minutes.
“I didn’t know I just had a bad feeling and I saw the ski mask so I just went into action,” I said lying except about the part about going into action.
