Introduction: The Philosophies behind this Book:
This book was not written to destroy or tear down religion, or people, but to bring them together, each and every denomination on the face of this earth. In order to do so, we must identify and define two distinct types of principles. The first type, which we will call “primary principles,” are basic principles which are found in all religions and which have the ability to cross borders and create bridges between different philosophies. The second type of principles are the more specific interpretations of these primary principles. These “secondary principles” are usually unique to a specific doctrine or philosophy and are unable to cross the borders between belief systems.
The philosophy behind this book is that all religions share primary principles—principles that have the ability to reach each individual regardless of cultural, ethnic, or religious background. Problems like war and violence arise when religions begin to move away from these core principles, focusing instead on the secondary principles that separate and divide. The solution, then, comes in recognizing and embracing these primary principles in all aspects of life. As individuals make up businesses and nations, the responsibility lies in our hands. Once we learn to recognize and embrace these primary principles, understanding and acceptance will prosper, and divisions will be replaced by unity. Common ground will be found, and peace will reign!
About the Writing of This Book:
I have always felt distressed by violence, destructiveness, and tales of child murder in the media reports. That is why I wrote this book—to try and make a difference. I strongly believe that there has always been a plan for all humanity, a plan that is enumerated by primary principles in all world religions and philosophies. This plan has always been in place within the world, but humankind keeps backsliding because people are missing the mark. To grow and prosper is far better than to tear down and keep starting over.
I have always felt that in this day and age there is a minority of humanity still living in the dark ages. Violence will end when that minority realize they are not part of the solution but part of the problems facing our world. When education is accessible to all, and everyone is focused on the common ground and shared principles of all religions and communities, peace will be possible.
This book outlines a simple plan that divides all religions’ holy books into primary and secondary principles. This allows every religion to maintain its own individuality, keeping the world diverse while at the same time creating a common ground conducive for unity.
Terrorism:
The very word strikes fear in the heart of Americans these days, but what if someone had finally found the “cure” for terrorism? Common Ground: The Living Principles is a new book that reveals what many have long theorized: That terrorism is not a nationality or religion, but a disease. Like any disease, it can be cured by following “The Living Principles,” not with more weapons but with more understanding.
The main concept of Common Ground is to give -- or set -- a plan in motion, thus ending the far-ranging conflicts in the world. To do so, everyone needs to follow a definite set of rules, or “Principles.” In this way, all individuals realize that to get along in the world is far more beneficial than fighting; only then will real peace and happiness exist.
Book Proposal:
The result of Brad Panvino’s efforts is a fresh and easy-to-digest set of principles for success in today's world—a moral compass for the 21st century: Common Ground: The Living Principles outlines "primary principles" shared by all the world's religions, and "secondary principles," where those religions diverge and where conflicts form. Framed around the philosophy that all religions share common ground, his book portrays religion in a new light—appealing to both secular and religious audiences. Panvino demonstrates that these primary principles hold the key to creating a peaceful, ethical world. Unique in the literature, Common Ground lays out real solutions: all the principles and their positive and negative attributes in one simple document that ordinary people can easily grasp. It's a readable book that could appeal across several genres: self-help, peace and social justice, and philosophy.
In a time of religious hatred, war, school shootings, and terrorism, this book could find favor in colleges, among working people seeking meaning in their own lives, and among the disaffected who seek to understand a topsy-turvy world. It could lend itself either to packaging as a gift item with a pop-culture format (e.g., Life's Little Instruction Book) or in a more traditional format.
The book is professionally edited and ready for your review. May we send it to you?
Sincerely, Shel Horowitz, Publishing consultant to Brad Panvino
