ONE - AMELIA’S RUN
A melia Clearwater was running. Her long blonde hair was whipping around behind her and her bright blue eyes were shining in the darkness. Amelia knew her time was coming, but she couldn't stop, not yet. She was in a forest, where, she didn't know. All she knew was that she needed to get away.
She found a spot. “Oh, I hope there’s time,” Amelia said quickly. She opened her mouth again, “Tunnel into the future, open for me!” Then, as if a sword had slashed through midair, an opening appeared. Amelia dared to wait, as the opening grew wider, into a doorway. She heard footsteps behind her. She checked to see if anyone was near and went through.
The year she chose was 2008. Amelia knew whom it was she wanted to give it to.
There she was, a girl around the age of thirteen with long brown hair and brown eyes. The girl was in her bedroom, reading. Though Amelia was a mile away, she could see her as if she were staring right through the window.
Amelia put her hand into her dress and pulled out a blue, teardrop shaped necklace. She said a few chosen words and blew on the necklace. It disappeared in midair and suddenly appeared around the girl’s neck.
“Shear through!”
Suddenly, a pain struck Amelia. He was here, but how? She had made sure she was alone before she went through. Now if he found the girl, she would be in grave danger.
Eric Shade struck Amelia with his spell, causing a long deep cut. The cut began to bleed. “Hmm… I never thought you were that thick.” Eric laughed at the weak Amelia, who was lying on the ground.
“How did you. . . get through? I thought you couldn’t get in with my power.” Amelia looked at his black eyes and finally said, “Well, don’t even bother asking who or where, I’ll never…tell. Your plan won’t work because I gave the gift away.” Amelia continued in a coarse whisper, “So it was all for nothing.”
Eric wasn’t smiling anymore. “No, it wasn’t all for nothing, because I can still do this. Torture!” Amelia screamed in agony. “I think your time has finally come, Amelia Clearwater, and the person you gave the gift to will meet the same fate.” Then with a last spell, Eric raised his hand above her and said, “Kill.”
TWO – THOSE STRANGE EYES
S ea Clearwater was reading a book about magic, stories of fairies and wizards. In a few minutes, she would be in the car, then on a plane on her way to London. Eager to go, she put down the book, got up and walked towards the window.
Sea suddenly felt different. She knew her name was a little weird, for she was adopted. Though she never knew anyone with such a strange name, all in all she liked it anyway. It made her feel somewhat special.
She took a deep breath, then felt and heard a soft thump. Still looking out the window, she moved her hand to her chest and felt something. Sea looked down and saw a strange teardrop necklace. “Ok, I don’t remember putting you on, nor do I remember owning you.” Her voice was quiet with her American accent clear in the air. Though the necklace seemed to come out of nowhere, Sea wasn’t scared and remained calm. Her mom and dad always found her to be calm. Even when she was a small child, she hardly ever cried.
Sea took off the necklace and placed it in her pocket. There was a knock on the door and her mom opened it. “Sea, are you ready? We have to go now. The flight leaves pretty soon.”
Emily Clay was a beautiful woman with long blonde hair. Her eyes were a mix of green and blue. She was thin and tall and Sea loved her completely. When she spoke, she had an English accent. Although she wasn’t her birth mother, Sea did not care, she still loved her like a mother. “Yes, Mom, where’s Dad?”
Emily walked up to Sea, then motioned her head towards the window. “Your father is in the car waiting for us, best not to keep him waiting.” Brushing her fingers on Sea’s book, she slowly looked down at the long dark purple cover, “Come, we’ll end up being late. I’m as anxious as you are, after all, so come on.”
Sea looked out the window once more. Smiling at the view, she followed her mother.
Once Sea and her mother were outside, they found Ted sitting in the driver’s seat. Ted was a tall, thin and caring man who always wanted to help those in need. Just as she cared for her mother, Sea loved her father the same.
As they were heading to their car, Sea noticed someone heading their way. “Mother, look,” Sea whispered.
“Excuse me! Hi, my name is Eric, Eric Shade.” He held out a hand, which Emily took. First he said something in a strange language followed by, “Can you two help me?” His words sounded like he had a difficult time pronouncing them and only knew a certain amount of the language he had spoken.
“Excuse me?” said Emily as she looked at Eric. “I don’t understand.”
“I can,” muttered Sea to herself.
He continued in English, “Can you lovely young ladies help me? I’m looking for a necklace shaped like a teardrop.”
Sea’s brown eyes grew wide. She stuck her hand in her pocket. Although the necklace had been in her pocket the whole time, it felt as cold as ice.
“No, I’m sorry, but I’ve never seen such a thing,” responded Emily. Sea looked at the young man. She could tell that Eric was about twenty-five or thirty years old. Yet, he looked very young.
