During the last decade, Americans have done poorly and done well, economically speaking. As Dickens said, “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.” Unemployment in the United States is now at its highest level in 21 years with more than 3.7 million jobless. In 2001, the airline industry alone lost more than $5 billion. The holiday season, its busiest time of year, saw 65% fewer passengers. Savings and loans, and bank failures reached all-time highs. Those financial institutions that remained were merged with or bought out by others.
Forty million Americans cannot get credit cards, and of those who have them, five million have trouble making the payments. The American dream of owning a home has become a nightmare for millions of people. Insurance companies and employee pension funds (in all major industries) have gone bankrupt in record numbers. Millions of well-paying jobs in the United States have been lost through downsizing or exported to foreign countries. Individual consumer debts (credit card, installment, etc.) are higher than ever. The rich got richer and the poor got poorer!
It is against this backdrop that I have been telling individuals, church congregations and community organizations in urban and rural areas it’s time for a change! It is time to realize that Christians are not supposed to be poor, broke and hungry. I believe the Apostle James when he said, “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:18). In essence, positive thinking will go only as far as positive action takes it. It takes a recognition that we must act upon our faith, recognizing that God will grant us the desires of our hearts. As a minister of the Gospel, I must give people hope. I must also give people an understanding of how to live a more complete life. By standing on God’s Word, by faith, people will be moved by positive spiritual action.
Therefore, I have written The 90% Rule: How to Get Out of Debt and Prosper and Why It’s Important. For short, I call it The 90% Rule. For more than thirty years, I have worked in the areas of personal and business finance – as a financial consultant, marketing professional, stockbroker and a business lawyer. Whether it was a corporation or an individual, my goal was to help them reduce their debts, increase their income and build wealth.
The 90% Rule is based, in part, on my years with Merrill Lynch, Waddell & Reed, Florida Professional Services Group and the Carter & Associates Law Firm. It also is based upon my personal experience of being head over heels in debt and how I got out. More importantly, this book was developed through divine inspiration from God to set all people free from the bondage of debt. God has called me to preach and to teach this ministry of prosperity throughout the four corners of the world. For such a time as this, God has called me to speak to you about His love for you and His blessings for your finances!
As I travel from place to place explaining The 90% Rule, I find that people who have applied it to their lives are utterly amazed at how simple it is to get out of debt. God would not have made it complicated. If so, only a select few could have benefited – The 90% Rule works for anyone and everyone. God is no respecter of persons. God wants us all to be free. This is not something I heard or read; I have lived The 90% Rule.
I had sunk deep into financial sin, far from the peaceful, prosperous shore, so deep in debt and stained within, sinking to rise no more. After five years of using The 90% Rule, see how God has blessed me. Yes, the Master of the Sea (God) heard my despairing cry from the waters of financial bondage. He lifted me, now safe and prosperous am I! The 90% Rule is a simple plan of how God's love will lift you from the depths of bankruptcy and despair and place you on the solid ground of financial freedom. The 90% Rule is my testimony from poverty to prosperity. It is a situational chronicle of my financial life and ministry to be a blessing to others. It is also a way for you to know that what God did for me He also will do for you.
The 90% Rule is a spiritual way to live on 90% of your earnings. You should pay 10%, which is your reasonable service, to God’s church. Of the remaining 90%, you should pay 10% to yourself, in the form of savings. The remaining 80% should be used to pay current expenses, household operations and offerings to your church and/or ministries.
The 90% Rule is divided into two parts for your ease of understanding. In Part I: HOW TO GET OUT OF DEBT, I offer an inspirational financial management system by way of personal experience. In Part II: HOW TO OBTAIN WEALTH AND PROSPERITY, I provide spiritual and practical examples for wealth accumulation and rules to live by.
Remember these four steps: Pray over your debts; Pray over your debt relief plan; Pray for financial discipline; and Pray for deliverance into wealth and prosperity.
God will deliver you from the bondage of debt. May God bless you!
