Song Man, Fuss Allen, would alternate with Johnny Bell and his Nite Life Orchestra. Johnny would also include the bird inputs of sound. Johnny would enjoy this gig as he loves participation by those he entertains, or those who would like to join in. With a great combination of human music and the introduction of bird music, the birds were ready to dance and entertain the human spectators. Flute would also participate and translate for the birds, Johnny Bell’s expected comedy, and entertaining comments.
Everything was in place the evening of the FLY BY FLING. The Arctic Circle was open to allow the birds in. The circular stadium seating surrounding the Birdysphere was completely sold out in anticipation of a great show. Standing room was allowed beyond the surround seating. In addition, it was voluntary for the spectators to dance on the external surrounding dance-floor between the stadium seating and the Birdysphere
It was a clear Newport Autumn Night. The crowd applauded wildly at 7:00 PM when the music and dancing began. Flock product offerings were being consumed at a rapid rate by both the spectators and birds. Internal to the Birdysphere, the birds were enjoying the occasion, celebrating with Flute Nutty Passion juice, Peanut Butter Corn Puffs, crumbled fluted tacos, squash flower petals with honey, and the normal seed mixes. External to the Birdysphere, human spectators were enjoying the Flock offerings.
The music began with a number of the birds moving to the dance floor to show off their newly obtained dancing skills. They started off with a Flox Flop. Some of the spectators immediately moved to the surround dance floor and responded in a human Fox Trot fashion. They were very surprised to see the Fox Trot did as The Flox Flop, with all the flying lifts, the more demanding spiraling lifts, turns and many other unexpected movements. They applauded at each Flox Flop lift and then reacted with their Fox Trot turns. The crowd enjoyed watching the video streaming to the continental screens, as well as being able to see the goings on within the Birdysphere through the transparent Fish Eye Ocean Lens.
A Rumba was played next. Humans reacted outside with a nicely flowing Rumba. Again they were impressed with the Birds Flumba rendition of the Rumba. The Rumba is wonderfully romantic, with its flowing attributes. The bird’s addition, of their easily done flying lifts, the ruffling and rotating of their feathers was equally romantic and acrobatically pleasing. The crowd was ecstatic.
Although the waltz as done outside by the humans was beautiful, the flowing aerial lifts done by the birds in their version of the Flaltz, preempted the human version. It brought back memories of a gifted human couple, Fred A. Stair and Cinnamon Rogers, but with the flair of flighty aerials added in.
The sensuous Merengue as danced by the humans was great but when the birds added their version with their tail feathers fanning, shaking and rotating it stopped the human dancers, as they watched the birds doing their version of the Flerengue. Birds glided shaking and exposing their colorful feathers as they made colorful aerial turns to the 1-2 beat. It caused the crowd to break into a raucous and appreciative applause. The birds on the smooth glass floor moved at an advantage to the birds on the perch type floor as they could glide with a smooth graceful movement. The birds on the perch floor had more of a staccato movement, as they did their stepping along the perch floor, or as they stepped from one perch rod to the next. Nevertheless, the staccato movement coupled with their aerial strengths and precise landing on the perch floor projections, proved to be a great Flango version of the Tango. The humans were impressed with the snappy and passionate bird versions of the Tango.
The free style Flitter Flug and the Flock, with all the optional choreographed movements, wowed the spectators. They applauded the Flacarena, Flustle, Flamba, and Flotten Eyed Flow line dance. The pole dancing of the Woodpeckers and their emphatic hollow rhythm like pecking sounds entranced the spectators. They realized the Woodpeckers added to the music by peck tapping on the poles, while at the same time they were doing dance steps. The Woodpeckers danced vertically up the poles. Towards the top they would rotate to the other side of the pole and then dance downwardly toward the bottom. They would then rotate to the other side, and would repeat the upward and downward movements, introducing new steps as they continued to dance.
The viewing audience was enchanted when the special enhanced video highlighted the activities of the Hummingbirds. When the human dance crowd saw this they stopped in their tracks as they watched dancing in flight. Amazingly the Hummingbirds had come up with their own in flight vertical line dancing. It was just too inconceivable for the humans to do anything, except stop and watch these beautiful tiny beings doing their incredible winged dancing.
The Fly BY Fling went on until the late hours with nobody leaving. It was a complete success enjoyed by both the humans and the birds. Fuss Allen had a great time, conducting the birds and merging their sounds with his own. He changed his name from Song Man, to Song Bird. He ultimately, was very satisfied, that he could give all his participating birds unique names, names that they would recognize. Flute assured Fuss, that he appreciated Fuss’s interaction with the birds and welcomed him to participate with future Fly By Flings.
Johnny Bell changed the name of his orchestra from Nite Life to Johnny Bell Flight Time Orchestra. Johnny asked Flute if he could use some of the birds in his gigs. Flute told Johnny that would be no problem. He can have all the gigs he wants at the Birdysphere. The Fly By Fling was incorporated into the Birdysphere entertainment package on a daily basis.
