The Hinai Hospital Holocaust!
PMC purchased Hinai with two goals in mind, number one to close them down because they were stealing "bidness" from their hospital down the street and number two, to rape Hinai for the $94,000,000.00 in foundation money that they had in their coffers. Hinai was a freaking mess clinically, physically and financially. Even Holumbia AOL, a corrupt American corporation that bought anything and had made a sweetheart offer to buy Hinai, was bailing out. This left their C.E.O. a piano player (lawyer), named Honberg easy pickings. PMC waved a new car, a country club membership and a few bucks under his nose and bought him out like the three dollar hooker that he was. Honberg knew that part of the deal was the fact that they would close Hinai in a year, putting all the staff out of a job, but he didn't care he already had his thirty pieces of silver, so he took the money and ran!
When PMC purchased Hinai, one of the things they asked us to tackle was their concern about Hinai's high death rate. The infection rate in their dialysis program was four times what it should have been and the death rate was twice the national standard. We needed to know why as quickly as possible and so we looked, and what a stinking mess we found! There were multiple, multiple issues dating back several years. First and foremost was the incoming tap water from the Detroit water and sewer pipes that was so freaking filthy you could almost walk on it. The underground pipes were so old, that the sewer water and the clean water supply were mixing together underground making the water truly shitty, literally and figuratively speaking. To make matters worse the surrounding industries had dumped so many chemical contaminants in the water that the mercury and aluminum levels were 150 times the safe limit. No wonder half the people in the area were so crazy, they were being poisoned on a daily basis by the water! The city of Detroit had known this for years but the employees would much rather sleep in their trucks all day and Archie would much rather spend the city's money on his own personal projects, than clean up the seething cesspools that lurked in the old neighborhoods. The second disaster that Hinai owned was the fact that there were no back flow preventers on the taps, so that every time the staff dumped hepatitis or HIV positive body drainages down the sink, it was siphoned right back up and dumped out the tap on the hands of the next person who tried to wash them! No wonder the patients were dying like flies, the whole place was a sewer. That was another problem very few windows had screens at Hinai. The board didn't want to spend the money to replace them, but in some ways the patients who did have flies come in their room were lucky. The flies laid their eggs in the patient's infected, rotting flesh and then the maggots kept the wounds clean! Some patient's even survived and went home, because no one would change their dressings, and the maggots thrived on the rotted flesh, cleaned out the wounds and the patients got better!
The last very chilling issue at Hinai did involve their chiller, a water bath that surrounded a radioactive core in their nuclear medicine department. The shielding around the radioactive core had leaked for years as well, making the basement of Hinai a freaking Chernobyl. Rendering the staff that worked there sterile and causing them to die of cancer by the dozens or die of bizarre infections from the super bacteria that had mutated in the sewer/ water pipes in the nearby walls. Hinai was the jewish community's jewel alright, but it was a black diamond, a cursed pile of stone, that sickened and killed almost everyone who entered it!
Despite the severity of these issues, they in and of themselves shouldn't necessarily have been a factor in the death of the dialysis patients. The rules for water treatment were very strict and the special water purification machines should have been able to strain out even solid waste. But there was a huge problem there too! Hord who had been doing dialysis under contract for Hinai, who taught everybody else the standards for water treatment, hadn't been doing a freaking thing!
Perhaps it is best first to explain that in dialysis, water has to be treated as a medicine, carefully purified of bacteria and high levels of chemical contaminants that could so easily kill the patients because it mixes with their blood through a tissue thin screen or membrane during a dialysis treatment. Hord knew this well, so very well, they were experts in the field of water treatment, they knew what had killed Fendry Hord, and they had done nothing!
It didn't stop there however, there was another factor that became a very important factor when the cover up began, a very, very important factor. The water analyses for chemical contaminants were very disturbing, grossly disturbing. Showing aluminum contamination 150 times the safe limit, as well as mercury, cadium and many other toxic chemicals that caused cancer, birth defects, brain damage, heart and nerve disease amongst many other things. The industries surrounding Detroit, primarily Hord's industries were dumping all their chemical wastes in the clean water supply. Mercury from their ignition switches, aluminum for their engine plants and PCB's from their power plants. Giving new mean to the phrase, "Think Hord First, Especially at Autopsy". We had solved the riddle of the Crypts, the reason as to why the death rates in Detroit and Windsor were 30% higher than the rest of their respective countries. The answer was sitting right in front of us all this time. All we had to do is look across the river and think Hord and Archie First!!!
