This book traces an acoustic music-maker who develops a repertoire with multiple stringed instruments after an unpleasant, initial encounter with a stubborn trombone. He tests the musical waters as a consecutive member of five musical groups, playing and singing folk, bluegrass, traditional old-time, and country music–“easy” music that is easy to listen to and relatively easy to play. His musical involvement also includes writing music and giving lessons. Throughout his musical involvement, he often senses gratifying moving experiences that are soothing and therapeutic. This book is for you if you desire to broaden your mind by making your own music; if you seek a creative outlet; if you realize that music is usually appropriate at most gatherings; and if you desire insight as to how musicians interact.
