Feelings In Concert is a collection of poetry and prose, grouped into five sections. This is a condensed version from the original writings. They are about everyday life, more or less. The subjects chosen relates to God and man, love and hate, harmony and discord, friends and enemies, dreams, reality, the known, the unknown, dedications, remembrances, celebrities, and situational scenarios.
Part one, “Wisdom In Short” has only one poem. Life is a series of steps, and we must be willing to do whatever is required to get to the place we wish to be.
The set of poems in Part two, were written after the rest of the book was completed. I included this section because of my deep respect and love for music. This is, “Music-Dedications and Reflections”. I give my own interpretation in the poem “Music”. “Her Favorite Song” is about a fan, at a concert, mesmerized by her favorite star, lost in a dream that would soon become reality. “The Voice of Dignity” is a tribute to the remembrance of the late and great pop and gospel singer, Lou Rawls, whom I admired greatly. In this section is an Ode to my favorite rock star, Bob Seger. This book is also dedicated to him. At the time this book was written, Bob was writing and singing hit after hit, and he continues to be a favorite performer.
In part three, the poems are light and a bit humorous. “The Male Gender” is about preferences, relationship and restrictions. The key in this poem is “restriction”. Humbly written, “America’s Going Fat” is a parody. It reflects upon traditions that add to our problem, and perhaps, should be re-thought and modified, for a healthier life.
Part four has a more serious group of writings, meant to invoke deeper thought. “The Rose” is a symbolic poem. “God is Love” tells of the character of God, and how He, through this loving Spirit desires to help those of us, above and beyond our needs and desires, if we will turn to Him. “Live For Today” and “Tomorrow’s Life” reminds us of how short life is. We should make each day count. We never know when today becomes the only tomorrow we will ever see. Tomorrow is no guarantee for any of us. God has Order in His universe. Everything He has made, except man, functions in an orderly fashion. In the poem “Transitions” it describes some of this order, and how God continually watches over us until the end. I write about friends and friendship in “A Dear Friend” and “My Friend As Myself”. “A Ride With An Enemy” is about deep hatred. “Phantom Paradise” is a situational scenario reflecting our need to evaluate desired changes in our lives. The most touching poem in this section, and the one that most people have reacted to is “I Love Daddy Too”. It is about children being hurt by separations and divorces. “Young Man” is a poem, directed to the young people who are determined to commit a wrong. There are questions to be answered, and decisions to be made, based upon those answers. Think about the outcome, first.
Part five is in remembrance of my parents who raised me with good breeding, and taught me about God, who is always number One. I describe my mother as a Godly person with great faith. She was a talented singer, and a great cook. My dad was also a Christian with a great voice. I write about his sense of humor that brought laughter for days.
