I had a dream Sunday night. I imagined I was in something that was going up and around continually. The next scene was a new baby upon a table next to a Ferris Wheel. The baby was kicking and moving its arms. It looked like the baby’s body was rising up off the table, and then lowering itself. Then I imagined a woman took me to see my doctor. I even heard the woman talk to my doctor. “He’s different doctor. He’s fourteen now. He always is trying to fly like a bird. I must keep a chain around his body which is fastened to the bed. Why is he always trying to fly?” The doctor looked at me sitting in a chair. “Can you talk?” He asked. I nodded. The woman also nodded. “He’s never went to a school, yet he talks as if he graduated from a high school; maybe even from some college.” She mentioned. “He is smart. Wants to go out of the house and float in the wind currents.” The doctor was frowning as he looked at me. “Do you believe you can float in wind currents? If you tried, maybe you wouldn’t float. You might get hurt.” “If there are wind currents, I’ll be flying above the ground. Pretty sure I could fly through the sky, too.” I told him. “Pelicans use wind currents to float in the sky. I’d be like them.” “What would happen if there aren’t any wind currents just then?” The doctor asked. “Sometimes those currents die down for a while.” “If no currents near me, I would use my arms and legs to rise to some other current nearby. There are always wind currents in the sky. I have to just feel them, and then I’ll know they are around me.” I replied. The doctor looked at the woman. “Just for a test. Get a very long rope and tie around Cliff. Then let him walk outside. See what happens.” He suggested. “Try to get a camera and either you use the camera, or have some body else. If he floats and even flies, it should be caught by the camera. I’d be anxious to see the result.” He looked at me. “Are you sure you can float and also fly in the sky?” I nodded. “Very sure.” I replied. Then I woke up. Today ten years later, some how I have an ID card that says I’m twenty-four. I have been practicing every week to fly over the City of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. One day as I was flying over some stores a man walked out of his back door and waved at me. He made motions with his hands that I should come down as he wanted to talk with me. Wind currents around buildings are a lot different than those in a clear sky. Some currents seem to die as they touch buildings. Couple times I fell about five feet and was lucky to land upon a shed roof. I then climbed to the ground. I looked at the man standing back of his building. “Did you want to see me?” I asked, wondering what he wanted. The man nodded. “My name is Sam Woodson. I own the business in this store. After the papers said you were flying over the city, I came out to watch if I could see you. You were quite high at the time. My profession is making clothes for people. I believe you’ve been very lucky when flying. I’d like to make two sections of heavy material that you would fasten to your arms and shoulders. The material would act like wing of an air plane. I believe it would do you good to wear them. You must some times get caught in an air current that suddenly dies. You have to pull your arms up like you’re swimming to reach another air current. By wearing these wings I’m pretty sure it would be a lot easier to reach another air current whenever a current dies.” I nodded. “Twice I got caught when a current died and I had to like you said, start pulling me up seeking another current. I bet with those wings fastened to my shoulders and arms it would be easier to float until I reached another air current. “That would be the purpose of the wings. Want me to measure you?” Sam asked. “Please do.” I replied. “What would be the charge?” “Cliff. I’m doing this without charging you a cent. I enjoy seeing you floating and flying in the sky.” He took measurements of my shoulders and also how many feet it was from my front neck to the top of my pants. “Come back next Monday. The wings should be available for you to wear. I’ll watch to see if it helps you climb and float.” I shook hands with Sam and thanked him for suggesting he make the wings for me at no expense. It was Monday morning at ten o’clock. I had flown from my home to Sam’s business office on Canal Street. I pushed the button next to the rear door. Sam opened the door. “Good morning, Cliff. I saw you land. Let me get the two wings. They’re finished and hope my measurements were right.”
