Abstract:
This book confronts the ancient question: “Was creation of the universe a natural or a supernatural event?” The book begins with primitive creation myths, goes on to the work of various Greek and Roman philosophers, the medieval saints and rabbis, scientists of the Copernican revolution (from Copernicus to Newton), and finally to modern cosmologies, from Einstein’s “finite yet unbounded” universe to the current multiverse theories of Hawking, Linde and Smolin. The final chapters deal with natural law, reality, and a critical analysis of four classes of creation theories. “The God Hypothesis” blends modern science and theology to suggest a new answer to the riddle of Creation.
