Abstract:
African Americans in the military fought battles for acceptance and recognition that rivaled those on the battlefield. Beginning with the revolutionary war, African Americans have been at the forefront of every major conflict involving the United States military. Their valiant deeds equaled and sometimes surpassed those of their white counterparts. The heroics of these warriors were sometimes ignored but often were of such significance that they could not be shaded or obscured. The book is written in an easy-to-read format, filled with information that should excite young readers and interest curious scholars.
