Abstract:
Although a great many Indians scouted for and fought with the United States Army during the High Plains Indian Wars, few white men changed sides and fought with the Indians. The Renegade is the story of one of those men. Unjustly discharged dishonorably from the United States Cavalry for cowardice facing an enemy--when, in fact, he had been injured and left behind by his men to die in the hand of the torturing Indians--Lieutenant Bronson Norval Wyatt wants revenge. One bluecoat killed for every bluecoat who left him behind on the battlefield. Riding and fighting with Crazy Horse's band, he is well on his way to achieving his goal.
