Abstract:
There's an old saying: "Go west, young man. Go West." This is a story about one of the first U. S. Highways, one that was designated as "U.S. 50" in 1926. It goes through the central section of the USA. It runs 3,073 miles, from Ocean City, Maryland to Sacramento, California. I have written this true story, as seen from the beginning, from East to West. The reason is to tell the story as it was, when settlers were establishing roadways in the early days of the 1800's because Baltimore businessmen were interested in western trade routes.
