Abstract:
We can only prove things which are in the Bible by looking at history, and God did not want anybody to try to outguess history by the different private interpretations of prophecies, while history was still in the making. The interpretations of prophecies are not private when God does the explaining. God does that by letting the Bible do its own explaining. If people had heeded these verses on how to handle prophecies, and as soon as they had left it to the Bible to do the explaining, they would have had time on their side, because, while history unfolded before their eyes, they would have had all the right explanations they ever wanted or needed. That pertains to people in the past, as well as people of these days.
