Abstract:
Jim Winfield, who lost part of an arm and a leg in Vietnam, resumes civilian life in Ohio. There he learns of a 2000-year-old burial mound in the shape of a man with his identical injuries. This bizarre coincidence launches him on a dangerous journey of self-discovery which leads from murder through archeology to romance. The reader returns to the first century to observe the building of the mound which, when it is later excavated, produces an amazing work of art. The search for the missing half of the artifact becomes a metaphor for Jim's quest for spiritual healing.
