How it Began

It was in the year of 2020, when prices got higher. People were desperate. Starvation was widespread. There was an increase of Food Market robberies. Banks weren’t even touched. The economy had collapsed. The dollar was almost extinct. Natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, and droughts, coupled with a greater increase of the population, created greater shortages of food. Cities turned into chaotic shambles. People bartered more. America was in a National Emergency. The “Aggie” came into usage. The American Guarantee Card. A person could go into a “Rec” (Relief Center), and could get a meal that usually consisted of a small potato, a half-cup of vegetables, and six ounces of fish or beef. Either cooked well, or partially raw. Martial Law was declared. Cities got special offices placed near their City Halls. These were called Offices of Situational Control. U.S. Army Officers were selected by Data Banks in Washington, D.C.

Captain Jones was assigned to San Francisco.
