Abstract:
Ralph and Margie Jennings’ church activities is tearing apart their once-happy marriage. As chairman of the new church construction committee, Ralph spends his nights attending planning meetings. Their pastor, himself obsessed with the new construction, neglects to give Margie support in the woman’s mission program she is coordinating. Suspecting that Ralph is having an affair with his secretary, Margie turns to Daphne, a new-found socialite friend who chides her for “playing church games.” Margie also receives much attention from her unattached choir director. The story touches on suspected marriage infidelity, and the moral question of abortion.
