Their families lived 20 miles apart for 3 generations in Ontario, but Daniel W. Devine first met Mary Ann McCusker in 1907 in Niagara Falls NY. On their wedding night in 1911, they boarded a 3 AM train in the rain, for a 2500 mile journey to a Cascade Mountain tent. It was the first of 22 homes they occupied during 49 loving years together. Raising 2 sons and burying 3 other children, they met every challenge of life on the move. They made home a happy place, wherever home happened to be.
