Abstract:
A Dog’s Day After Noon is a novel in the form of a cycle. Each story relates to the next and the last reverts to the first. Saint Petersburg, Russia at the turn of the Millennium is viewed in cross-section. A chain of events that occurs on a cold, winter’s afternoon is caused and affected by the life of this northern metropolis. This skillfully crafted novel is the careful observations of a foreigner peering through a spyglass and describing what he perceives within the round frame of his telescope.
The metaphysical supposition of the novel is that human life, as a part of nature, abides by the laws of nature. The mediums of nature as they relate to the channels of perception take the form of a circling wave pattern of repeated frequencies: i.e. light (colour), sound, touch (vibration), etc. Human events can no more escape the repetition of their frequency than a revolving planet can escape its gravity… … or can they?
