Tybee Island Terror Plot by Glenn C. Smith , 02/24/2004
Reviewer: Mr. Barry Kaufman -Hilton Head Monthly Magazine
Based on historical fact, Tybee Island Terror Plot is a dizzying thriller that may strike a little close to home for some of us in the Lowcountry. In 1959 during a routine training mission, an Air Force fighter collided into a bomber in midair somewhere over Savannah. In order to land safely, the bomber crew was forced to drop thier payload, an atomic bomb, into the waters off Tybee Island. Months of searching failed to turn it up, and it was abandonded. From this intial chilling (and true) historical encounter, Smith's imagination takes over, placing the bomb in the hands of Al-Qaeda terrorists. What results is a tense page-turner full of local color and familiar scenery that makes the terrifying events in the book all the more thrilling.
