Abstract:
The Ames family (of ROOSTER IN THE SUN) moves again, now to a heartland city to assume the mortgage on a bankrupt hotel. To Jan, it is a theater where the show changes every night and she wants it to be a permanent home. In spite of the Great Depression, the family makes the hotel profitable but then Jan learns of plans to move far from the friends she loves. Her efforts to stay fail until harbingers come and views of the future change. The ending will surprise…and remind you to look for rainbows.
