If you are treasure hunting on a budget, then this is the book for you. Mr. Blake has done an outstanding job of giving a great "how to" guide and yet has kept it simple and to the point. The reading is long enough to cover the subject and yet short enough to read in an evening. The subject matter is well written and creates excitement for those of us who dream of finding hidden treasure. I was amazed to discover that treasure is where you find it even in your on back yard, and yes on a budget that anyone can afford.

Great tips for the average Joe , 09/27/2004

This book is an excellent source of usefull tips and tricks for the beginner. And it's also an insightful reminder of tools and techniques of yesteryear. Overall, this book makes a great field guide for much of the treasure hunters craft with tricks even experienced metal detectorist might have missed or even forgotten. Many of us have "gotten bit by the treasure bug" but the author explains that treasure isn't always gold and jewels. I especially enjoyed the authors sense of humor and encouragements through out this book.I feel this is definately money well spent.

  treasure hunting on a budget 2 , 11/29/2004

I have read both treasure hunting on a budget and treasure hunting on a budget 2. Both books provide useful tips on everything from where to begin treasure hunting to how to properly operaate a metal detector for optimum use. Because I am a novice th'er, these books have helped me in my approach to treasure hunting. New methods and new ideas on where to research and a striking new attitude toward the adventure itself. Although, I may not share the idea that we are fast approaching the end of days, I do recommend this book to anyone who is a beginner in the treasure hunting field, especially with a metal detector.

Holly Kow ! What a nice little book! I've had the metal detector a while, but now lookforward to going out to find valiuable items. My first morning out , a block from my home, I was asked to help find a lost key in a front yard. I found that, 3 clad quarters, 6 new pennies and a wonderfully bright Mercury Dime, a date 1924. I had to make plans to return to finish, they can't wait, and want me to look ing the next yard too. I Liked Robert's simple approach to metal detecting and treasure hunting.
