Fact and folklore combine with murder and intrigue as mother and son are drawn into a destiny that they can’t escape. A wild ride through the Pine Barrens of South Jersey.

Abstract:
In the early 1970’s, a prehistoric Native American burial site was uncovered on a rural South Jersey farm. Although development has steadily consumed the surrounding farmland, the site still exists to this day, known only to a few. But somewhere between historical fact and Pinelands legend, one young man will discover the connection between his father’s death and the protection of the land - leading him to a destiny that is linked to the past.

Circle of the Hawk is a compelling story for young adults and up, capturing the spirit of the pines and the very nature of fathers and sons. It is a mystery certain to become a Pinelands classic.

This was an amazing read! - A nice piece of writing that drops you in the heart of the Pinelands. L.J.Mannon managed to write a story that actually has something to say about parents expectations. She did it in a way that teaches you about horses, dogs, field trials and south jersey legends - in a plot that moves, dialoque that grabs and holds on to the reader with lots of interesting characters. I feel like I know the people and the places. I told my friends- take a wild ride through the Pines! AMY from Mt Laurel

Did anyone catch that Mesingw was a real legend in South Jersey history - like the Savich site? Or that the fate of the sons in the book mirrors the legend? The fact the author can weave such an intricate story with an ending that makes you think - and base it on Pinelands legend is truly a talent. I can't wait until the next one - what a great book! What a good book - a little mystery, a little adventure, a little legend, a little father-son conflict, a little teen angst - all wrapped around the survival story of the year. "Watch" as we witness Mary hiding out in the Pinelands from the police with a little help from her pineland friends who treat her as "one of their own". Soon you will feel as if you yourself have been riding through the woodlands... through the cranberry bogs.... through the muddy soybean fields.... farm after farm. My only regret was that the book ended too soon. I wanted to keep reading and reading. Perfect for a lazy afternoon. you won't want to put this book down. Hurry L J Mannon and write your next book
