Abstract:
In a unique combination of primary source history and fiction, modern day characters reflect upon the drama and mystery of actual mid-19th century letters, discovered as they prepare to sell the family homestead in the lakeside town of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Themes of love and marriage intertwine with pictures of daily life in the small village, and contrast with modern views and the reality of today’s bustling resort. The letters lead to a new love story, bringing a happy ending to a true tale that began 160 years ago. The letters are included in their entirety.
