Abstract:
Hoping to locate her late husband’s body by discovering the crash site of his private plane, and to disprove rumors of drug trafficking, grieving Keril Vandell moves from her lonely suburban New York home to a mountainous West Virginia region. Through her rambunctious collie’s wanderings, Keril meets motherless seven-year-old Corby Marshall. These two wounded souls, along with Corby’s widowed father, Marsh, endure a long, dark night of weeping to discover that, if faith overcomes doubt, joy does come in the morning. Prayers are answered, and one small child trades a lifetime of sorrow for an immediate future bright with hope.

I never realized Nancy was such a good writer. A local bookstore owner, I ordered 10 books for her booksigning. After I read the book, I ordered 20 more. I couldn't put the book down! I read it after work, then on the way to church. "I can't put this book down!" I told my husband. I couldn't wait for church to be over to finish it. It was great!

  Grandma's Book was good! , 10/06/2005
Reviewer: Bobbi Cunningham
My mother-in-law bought Grandma Merical's book. She read it and told me how great it was, so I attended my grandmother's booksigning and bought it. I was going to read one chapter a night, but I read one the first night, two the second, three the third. I got sick the fourth day and read from 10:00 until 4:00. I said, "Grandma, I couldn't believe it? It was so good, I didn't want it to end. When are you going to get another book out?" I can't wait to read Grandma's next book!

I had to take my car in for repairs the day after I bought Nnacy's book. I took it to read. I had to call Nancy from the dealership to let her know what I thought of her book. It was great. I couldn't put it down!

Worried About The Dog , 12/08/2005
Reviewer: Cricket Powell
With Nancy being my aunt, I guess I'm prejudiced and think she did a wonderful job. Also being someone who reads a lot of Christian fiction, I can say that it was great and ranks up there with the well-known authors. Unlike some Chrsitian fiction, Nancy didn't just mention God in passing on the last pages of the book but made sure God was one of the main characters, scripture was quoted, and God's love and the sacrifice of Jesus was brought out often throughout the book. I won't say much about it in case someone doesn't want to know details before they read the book, but I was very worried about the dog. And also want to know where you can go to get a man like that, Ansted!!!!! Way to go, Nancy, keep up the good work. And if you haven't read Down Life's Path. Know that the people in that book are real, truly lived what is told about them, and Nancy brought out enough to help you to laugh and cry right along with all their ups and downs. Love you, Nancy

  Turning the Pages , 06/27/2006
Reviewer: Pastor Kenny Reed
Nancy Merical's writing style keeps the reader turning the pages. I seldom read beyond the first two or three pages if the book doesn't immediately grab my attention. A Child Shall Lead Them, got my attention immediately and kept it throughout the book. I caught myself tearing-up on several occasions. To me, that is good writing. If I care enough to feel what the character is feeling, that hits the mark. It isn't just the protagonist in this novel that one learns to fall in love with and to care about. I found myself rooting for three characters in particular and saw the terrain and other scenes that the author so adequately painted with words.

  Runied my evening! , 11/22/2006
Reviewer: Patsy Pittman
Nancy wrecked my afternoon! I sat down to rest, and promised myself I would read "just a couple of chapters" of her book. Well, it was 8:30, and I had just said goodbye to Corby, Keril, Marsh and Sarah. It's a wonderful book! I really enjoyed it. It's been a long time since I have stolen enough time to finish any book at one sitting.
