Abstract:
The stories in this book are based on true events and typified the lives and times of the laboring class of Chinese immigrants and their descendents who lived in Chinatown over half a century ago.

There are many diverse stories gathered in this book. Each story is told as if it was held between the reader and the author in a get-together for coffee and social conversation. They are independent stories united by a common theme: China 2227 -Long, Long Ago.

Although the book is about the Chinese in the ghettoized quarters of Chinatown, certain stories will strike a cord of similarities in the lifestyle experienced by other ethnic groups
